Level Water fundraiser of the year!

The Flipper Club swim school very proudly works with the charity Level Water, helping facilitate 1:1 swimming lessons for children with a physical disability.

Not only has this enabled us to teach young swimmers who wouldn’t previously have had the opportunity, or the right support for them, but it has also inspired our Flipper Club community to raise vital funds to empower more children to swim across the country!

A popular fundraising event has been the Level Water 24 hour swims - teams of our adult swimmers completed this event at Lake 32 in September 2024 and also in April 2025. Level Water also run a number of 10km marathon swims including the Hurly Burly, Dart 10km and Bantham Swoosh - all fantastic swimming events!

And one of our very own Flipper Club supporters - Amanda Bowden - has been announced as the Level Water fundraiser of the year, raising well over £5000 for the charity. To put this into perspective - this will pay for over 350 swimming lessons for children with additional needs. An incredible achievement! To raise the money, Amanda has swum the Lake District’s Triple Crown this year (Ullswater, Coniston and Windermere), she’s been busy making waterproof makeup / kit bags and has donated a weekend swimming costume making course…

Amanda is also known as ‘ The Swimming Seamstress’ as she runs sewing courses to make your own tailored swim wear.

Amanda is an English Channel solo swimmer, a strong advocate for body positivity in swimming, and now Level Water’s biggest fundraiser! She will also be kindly helping to coach (or coax!) a group of our Friday Flipper Club Academy swimmers in their 2027 English Channel relay swim - more to come on this!
